Monday Muse

I know it's only Monday, but you can never start planning your weekend too early...

This Saturday is our Dance Magic Dance! Masked Ball. A joint affair to celebrate the end of January, pay day, and my 30th (which was ages ago, but who wants to squeeze in another bash right before Christmas?)

I've been collecting pretty pictures for inspiration.

From the top: Akif Hakan Celebi, Chanel, pretty eyes, doll face, Audrey Kitching and Chanel - again...

Versatile Blogger Award

I was both surprised and delighted to have received the Versatile Blogger Award yesterday from not one, but two of my favourite ladies: Aoife from Lips Tits Teeth and Hips and Kiki from A Rockabilly View.

The Rules:

1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass it along to 7 blogs you have recently discovered and enjoy.
4. Leave your recipient a note, telling them about the award.

So, here we go...

1. I'd love to own a giant tank full of seahorses but I struggle to keep a single goldfish alive

2. My all time favourite comfort food is bread and butter dipped in Heinz Baked Beans. In fact, I may head to the kitchen to prepare said snack right now - brb... nom nom nom...

3. I never wear shoes with skirts - that would involve displaying my 'cankles'

4. I believe in ghosts

5. I could never live on the ground floor - gotta be at least one floor up

6. I can never get enough of Two and a Half Men

7. I seem to have pulled every muscle in my arms and across my shoulders carrying our old fridge/freezer down 4 flights of stairs yesterday. Maybe I should review point 5?

I pass this award on to these fantastic bloggers, please check them out x

Something For The Weekend

Topshop leather jacket // ancient Primark leopard print cardigan // Topshop skirt // blue tights // DMs // River Island scarf // Kenneth Jay Lane bee ring // Tarina Tarantino spider hair clip

A bright and cheerful wee ensemble for a brief jaunt into town today. Re-joined the gym, met some lovely pals for hot chocolate and picked up some semi-permanent hair dye. My natural dirty blonde roots are beginning to show which makes me look a tad baldy, but as I plan to strip the black out in about 6 weeks time, I don't want to go adding any more permanent black over the top. I'm not convinced that it'll even take to my hair, but fingers crossed. Will give it a bash tomorrow while I'm watching Andy Murray get a thrashing from Djokovic.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend?

Here's another wee reminder to enter my Birthday Giveaway, if you haven't already x

Tattoo Gloves

When I first stumbled upon these tattooed gloves I felt a bit squeamish. I'm thinking "tattooed leather gloves" - have they skinned someone to make these??

Of course not.

They are an art statement by Ellen Greene:

“The Tattooed gloves explore the contrast between two opposing traditions. The vintage leather gloves function as a feminine article of clothing and traditional tattoo as a masculine art-form. The gloves evoke a sense of purity, modesty and formality. In opposition the tattoo can suggest sexual freedom, rebellion and criminality. The tension between the object and the image creates a beauty that is both androgynous and non-traditional.”

Having realised they are a work of art, and not for fashion, I'd really love to own a pair. I'm also obsessing over finger tattoos at the moment. What would you have written across your knuckles??

Caged In

This is how I feel at the moment - like a caged bird.

January is a miserable month for everyone and I'm sure you all feel the same. I'm skint, bored and work is so full-on just now that by the time I get home I can't face looking at another computer screen.

So, when I saw these new Chromat photos on Six Six Sick's blog, my little heart was all a flutter. I'm desperate to shed the winter blues and fly straight into spring in a whirlwind of bright, bold colours!

On 12th February I go for my second tattoo session on my backpiece. It's a seated peacock and it'll be my first foray into full colour - teals, purples, pinks and petrol blues. I must admit I'm a little nervous, but you can't have a black and grey peacock - that'd just be down right wrong. My final session is booked for 23rd March and I plan to coincide this with changing my hair colour from black to orange. I'll be in FULL COLOUR mode for spring!

Have you entered my Birthday GIVEAWAY?? You can win a dripping Chanel logo necklace by Tequila Star, Model's Own Nail Art Pens and loads of delicious EYEKO products! Good luck!

Holy Hakan

Hakan never fails to delight and inspire.

For Your Little Monsters

Inspired by Gaga's Telephone song, illustrator Andrew Kolb has turned the lyrics into a children's story book. Doubt any kid these days would be all that interested in his 1950s style drawings, but I sure am! Very cute.

Have you entered my Birthday GIVEAWAY?? You can win a dripping Chanel logo necklace by Tequila Star - or hop on over the the store to snap up your very own Gaga inspired 'Fame Monster' blinging adornment.

Shades Down In Tokyo Town

Although it's still bitterly cold outside here in Glasgow, today, the sun has got it's hat on and I'm feeling rather spritely!

I feel I've neglected my blog over the past week or so as I've been snowed under at work - on the computer all day and not feeling up to blogging at night. But, Monday is Baroque Boudoir's first birthday and I have a special GIVEAWAY planned for all of you!

In the meantime, get inspired for spring with these amazing sunglass designs by artisits such Charlie le Mindu, Karolina Kling, Bernard Willhelm, Walter Van Beirendonck and Piers Atkinson. They form part of the Shades Down In Tokyo Town exhibition that was on on display at the Tokyo’s Calm & Punk Gallery last year. The exhibition tours to London, Gothenburg and Stockholm during 2011. Eye hope eye can make it!

The Clothes, The Mess and The Wardrobe

As I gaze in despair at the heap of clothes draped over the back of a chair, the pile stuffed into the bottom of the wardrobe, the top of the wardrobe and now, in carrier bags dotted around the wardrobe. The tedious cycle of one lot in the wash, one on the clothes horse and one in the laundry basket really gets me down. I need a new wardrobe. But in order to house the new wardrobe, I need a new flat. The plans for this momentous move are well underway, in fact, there has been a plan for about 5 years. Just need to put in action!

Anyway, I digress. The point of this post was to share with you the beautifully designed exhibitionist wardrobe, designed by Dik & Stijlloos which allows you have all your favourite pieces on rotational display. Those perfectly formed new shoes and uber fantastic new coat can now hang on display for you to oggle at until such times that you might actually wear them. I nned this wardrobe in my life. No, I need three of these wardrobes in my life.
