Soft, Hard, Soft, Soft, Hard

This has been kicking around for a few days now, but I didn't want to post it directly after the Chanel video. Mainly because I didn't want to put Lagerfeld to shame. Gareth Pugh's film for the Pitti Immagine #79 is simply exquisite. I got goosebumps just watching it full screen on a computer. Can you imagine what it must have been like to witness it in situ as it was projected onto the ceiling of a Florentine chapel? I think I would have died.

Now hand me that roll of bin bags - I'm sure I can fashion my own cape!

Jessie J: Style Icon

I'm pretty shallow when it comes to music. I like my rock stars to LOOK like rock stars. When I was 14, I could quite easily be 'into' a band I'd spotted on the pages of Melody Maker way before I'd actually heard any of their music. I have no time for fulgy (f**kin ugly) bands. If you're gonna be onstage infront of hundreds or even thousands of people, make a fucking effort!

The last time I watched the Brits was back in the late 90s when Chumbawumba chucked a bucket of water over John Prescott and Jarvis Cocker gave Jacko the bum's rush. But this lil lady caught my eye the other night. Jessie J. Never heard of her, or any of her music, but she looks the biz and therefore - I love her! Apparently she won the BBC Sound of 2011 award and she has just won the Critic's Choice Award at this year's Brits which will take place on Tuesday 15th February.

Have you seen the new award? It's been restyled by Vivienne Westwood. What do you make of it? Do you even care?

Have you entered my Birthday GIVEAWAY? You could win a dripping Chanel logo necklace, Models' Own Nail Art pens and a whole bunch of delicious Eyeko products! Good Luck!
Closes on Thursday 10th February.

Window World

A new film by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel featuring Magdalena Frackowiak, Barbara Dvorakova and Baptiste Giabiconi.

Creepy mannequins... with ORANGE HAIR!

MYKROMAG in Print

MYKROMAG is "black and white with many shades of grey" and is in print for the very first time.

After making my Sang Bleu 5 purchase the other day, I've become hooked, once again, on works on paper. There's nothing more satisfying than flicking through beautiful images and being able to run your fingers over the page and feel the actual texture of the paper it's printed on.
I'm not going to go back to buying bulk copies of Heat or any other trash-rags out there, but I will be investing in some serious works of art.

Pull Shapes

lilac bandana from Osiris // Tarina Tarantino Hello Kitty necklace // George at Asda polo neck top // Topshop pencil skirt // Topshop heart tights // patent creeper boots from Camden Market about 10 years ago

A wee Sunday afternoon outfit. Yesterday I went into town to meet up with a few gal pals to celebrate little Jessica's first birthday. We had coffee and cake and played with all her new toys while she ignored us and chose to wave at every granny that walked past instead -a real wee gem! Can't wait til I can take her shopping to spend all of her daddy's money.

The Topshop skirt was another sale bargain I picked up last week. I have been after a pencil skirt for a while, but it's so far removed from my usual 'shape' of skinnies or leggings that I didn't want to waste a fortune on one. I'm still undecided - what do you think?

Another wee New Year's 'resolution' is to start dressing a little smarter for work. Every winter my daily uniform consists of layers and layers of scraggy jumpers and ill-fitting cardigans -mostly picked up in the mens department of H&M or Primark. My work is moving at the end of March and we'll be sharing a building with another company, so I really wanna try and clean myself up a bit. I'm thinking casual pencil skirts, pussy bow blouses and wee cardigans - not sure about my feet, but I suppose that'll depend on the weather each day...

Yesterday, it was still bone rattling cold, but the sun was out and made me feel a little summery, so here's a wee happy choon to get you all in the mood...

Sang Bleu 5

I was supposed to have my second tattoo session on Friday on my back piece, but when I arrived - all excited - I was told that there had been a mistake and my appointment had been double booked...
Poor lad got really stressed as I whipped out my appointment card with his handwriting scrawled all over it "Friday 7th Jan - 3pm", and protested, "But I've taken the day off work!"
There had been a balls-up and that was that. I've been in the same situation myself when I doubled booked a school visit at work only a few months back. I could feel his discomfort and embarrassment, but I was still pissed at the fact I was not going to get inked that day, so I dug the knife a little deeper and made it awkward for him as he desperately tried to reshuffle things.

"Hmmm.. no... that date doesn't work for me either..."

After about 5 minutes of toying with him I finally relented and we settled on new dates for sessions 2 & 3. Will have to wait a bit longer, but will be worth the wait!

To ease the pain of my missed appointment, I decided to treat myself to a long awaited copy of Sang Bleu 5. Although this volume of the tattoo/art/photography magazine was released last Spring, it's been difficult to track it down online. Everytime it became available, I was hit with big postage fees - it consists of 2 volumes, each about 300 pages long. But, the fantastic new Glasgow magazine shop, GmbH, kindly started to stock it just before Christmas. I popped in on Saturday to take advantage of their 20% New Year discount and snapped up a copy for a mere £19.20. Chuffed.to.bits. Here are a few snaps of the content. Enjoy!

The first annual Scottish Tattoo Convention will be taking place on 26th & 27th March in Edinburgh. I hope to manage along for one of the days - I'd love to know if any of you are planning to go too?! There's no artist list confirmed yet, but hopefully Miss Valerie Vargas of Frith Street Tattoo in London will make an appearance. You can see her work in the photo above - beautiful.
