Les Garcons de Glasgow present Folli Follie Spring Street Style Event

To celebrate the launch of the new Folli Follie SS11 collection, Les Garcons de Glasgow have been challenged to find Scotland's most stylish. They have shortlisted participants who've been styled with the latest collection and their photos will be unveiled in-store tomorrow evening. If you fancy joining the party and voting for your favourite look, head down to the store in St Enoch Centre, Glasgow, at 7pm. The winner will get their hands on their favourite Folli Follie accessory! Voting will continue online at www.LesGarconsDeGlasgow.com until Sunday 27th March.

If you want to attend, simply email Garcon Jonathan on  LGDGlasgow@gmail.com or RSVP to the Facebook Group.

This is gonna be yet another fantastic Glasgow event that I'm going to miss. Boo Hoo! BUT, instead, I'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow night to see two of my bestest buddies in 'Lazybed' by Ian Crichton Smith. The play is on Thurs-Sat at The Studio (basement of Augustine United Church), George IV Bridge, Edinburgh. So if anyone on the East Coast fancies a bit of metaphysical comedy this weekend, get your arse down to The Studio!

Not For Long!

dress from French Connection // Topshop heart tights // TK Maxx wedges // H&M nail polish in Temptress // Betsey Johnson skull ring // American Pride hair extensions

Feeling a little delicate today after last night's wedding so I'll keep this short and sweet. As I've got an appointment this coming Friday to have the black stripped out of my hair, I thought I'd take one last opportunity to wear my hair extensions that I bought in December. I've actually only worn them once before and I was wearing black so no one really noticed. Hence the choice of beige dress. I wore this to a family wedding last year, but I'm desperately trying to get more wear out of my wardrobe. I can honestly say that this is the first time I've had a big occasion to go to and not bought something new. Pretty proud of myself. I have loads of great clothes stuffed in my wardrobe that I've only worn once - or worse - never. So, over the next few weeks I'm gonna haul out a pile of stuff, photograph the evidence and shame myself here on the blog. If I don't wear an item in the next 6 months, it's gotta go! Think I'll have a good clear out first and pop some bits and bobs up here for sale. I can think of at least 2 pairs of shoes and a couple of dresses that simply don't fit me - time to recycle! Watch this space!

My outfit poll has now closed and it was a tie-break - 5 votes each for Solid Gold Safari and Sun-day. I guess that was a little pointless, but fun! Cheers to everyone for voting.

I'd love for you to keep voting for my items on the Shopping Forecast. You guys can either cast a vote and bugger off, or join up and win prizes for yourself. Linky links on my right hand nav x

Wee Bargain

Just a quickie to show you my new shoooooes! Snapped up on Ebay for 6 quid plus postage. They're leather ones from Topshop. Worn once, but who cares? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Bargain-tastic! I haven't been very successful on Ebay recently so I was pleased as punch with this little purchase. No outfit post as I haven't actually worked out how the hell I'm going to style them. I simply don't do heels... Any suggestions? I've teamed them with these purple tights as I quite fancy the whole colour-blocking idea, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to what style/length of skirt would work.

Off to a wonderful wedding this evening at New Lanark, a beautiful restored 18th Century cotton mill and world heritage site, so will hopefully have a few outfit shots up tomorrow. In the meantime, there's one day left to VOTE for which outfit you prefer: Tomboy tough, Solid Gold Safari OR girly cute, Sun-Day. It's pretty much even stevens at the moment, so if you've got an opinion, cast your vote on my righthand nav bar!

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend x

The Devil Is In The Detail

After whinging about catwalk shows and how I find them uninspiring in my last post, here's a nice little contradiction for you. Close up shots of Sarah Burton's collection for Alexander McQueen. Breathtaking. Well done Sarah! Images from 2BD.

Dervishes In Space

At the moment, fashion films seem to float my boat way more than runway shows or editorials. I think I respond much more an overall concept, rather than just the clothes themselves. Maybe it's just cos it's kinda new and different. Anyway, here's a wee trilogy of videos about three futuristic space travelers. When their space station crosses an unknown energy field, the astrogirls are transcended into a hyper-reality where their innermost desires and fears become uncannily vivid. It reminds me of contemporary Japanese artist, Mariko Mori's Miko no Inori video and Wave UFO where visitors enter the pod and exchange brainwaves with one another! I've never had a chance to see any of Mori's work except one small piece at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, but she's been one of my favourite artists for over 10 years. Have any of you been lucky enough to experience any of Mariko's exhibitions? I'd love to hear more about her work.

Dervishes in Space was Directed by Cristian Straub. Director of Photography: Jakob Suess.

Jif Lemon Day

All images from We Heart It

In the UK, and a whole host of other countries around the world, today is Pancake Tuesday! Each year, for 30 years, I've been gorging myself on yummy, sticky pancakes on this very day. But why??

I was brought up Catholic so I've always been aware that officially, Pancake Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday) signifies the day before Lent (Ash Wednesday). I was never particularly interested in the greater religious connotations of things, so when I was ickle, this meant I got to stuff my face with pancakes, 'give up' something I really enjoyed - sweets, chocolate, fizzy juice - for what seemed like FOREVER and at the end of it all I was rewarded with stacks of chocolate Easter eggs. So I kinda got it: feast, fast, feast. But why the humble pancake?? Why not mountains of profiterole gateau like I had the other night? I suppose 'back in the day' a pancake was pretty decadent - you need sugar, eggs and butter or such like to make one and I'm sure your average single-end tenement dwellers would have thought this a pretty extravagent gesture.

Will you be whisking up a batch at some point today? What tickles your fancy? Fat and squidgy or thin and crispy? And what's your choice of poison for the topping or filling?

I'm a thin and crispy kinda gal with a light sprinkle of sugar and a good squirt of the old Jif lemon. Gotta keep the filling to a minimum to optimize room for maximum pancakes, OR, if I choose to keep the pancakes at a minimum, I go for the full hog: lashing of runny Nutella, chopped bananas, skooshy cream and a sprinkling of toasted coconut. Nom, nom, nom...
