A Scottish Summer?

It was another glorious weekend here in Glasgow so after a good rummage around at the bottom of the wardrobe for something summery to wear to my cousin's hen-do, I unearthed this wee floral dress from last spring.

Need to learn that facing straight into the sun for photos is a bad idea. Check those crow's feet!

Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry dogtooth scarf (gift) // hoop earrings from Miss Selfridge // Topshop leather jacket // Primark dress (last spring) // Urban Outfitters belt (about 3 years old) // tights? // Vivienne Westwood Melissa wedges // TK Maxx bag // Kenneth Jay Lane bumblebee ring

We had a fantastic girly afternoon with cake and fizz followed by cocktails and a slap up Chinese feast. Good job I hit the gym on Friday night! Joined my first ever spin class. Surprised myself by actually enjoying it although my bum's still agony from those torturous seats!

Mildred basking in the sunshine yesterday while Mr G and I cleaned all round about her. Decorator arrived at 8am this morning. Gotta get rid of the blue walls and go neutral if we're ever gonna stand any chance selling the place.

Stuck in work today but will be out and about this evening  - driving!! Yup, if I'm ever going to make it as a florist I'm gonna need some wheels to make my deliveries. Just need to pass my test first...

Hope you're all enjoying this beautiful weather xx

Caped Crusader

Sunday afternoon in the park. Picked up this cute-as-a-button spring cape from ASOS for a bargainous £21. Was planning to wear it on Saturday with my floral trousers (featured here) but the cacophony of colour was a bit much for Mr G's slightly delicate, hungover eyes. So instead, I kept it simple for a leisurely stroll over to Shawlands on Sunday afternoon.

Cape from ASOS // ancient Primark cardi (stolen from a friend about 4 years ago) // Topshop Pippa jeans - my favourite style - why do they not exist anymore??? // TK Maxx bag // Pierrot et Coco bag containing a very special wedding gift for my cousin // London Fog from Beanscene // Blowfish boots

Mission Impossible

...Saturday afternoon....
....1500 hours...
.....5 hours since last feeding session....
.....the situation is tense and reaching boiling point...

Emergency averted!
Hotdogs and popcorn all round!

After busying myself tidying the flat and dying my hair on Saturday morning I got itchy feet and wanted to go out and do something. Mr G suggested we go see a film. As I've said before, I'm not really a huge cinema fan. After a bit of debating we settled on Mission Impossible 4 at the IMAX. Not normally my cup of tea, but I can always be tempted by the promise of cinema grub. I skipped lunch in anticipation of a hot dog with mustard AND ketchup, but as you can see for the top photo, I was hank marvin by the time we arrived at the Science Centre complex - not a good look!!

I settled into my seat in the relatively quiet cinema - just the way I like it - and promptly wrapped my laughing gear aound my hotdog. It was gone before the opening credits but luckily I had a tub of popcorn to keep me amused a bit longer. I usually last about 30 mins before I start to complain that I'm too cold and another 15 mins before I'm asleep. And for my IMAX viewing pleasure, I also brought along my earbuds because it's always ridiculously loud and I literally have to cover my ears in pain.

It's normally an impossible mission to keep me awake throughout the entire film, but wee Tom and the utterly fantasic Simon Pegg held my attention right to the very end. In fact, I actaully had my fingers physically crossed as Tom leapt around that building!

I have no right to review films properly as I usually forget what I've just watched about an hour later, but I hereby give Mission Impossible 4 5/5.

Mummy Monster

Images from Gaga Ooh La La

Loving Lady Gaga's 'all wrapped in white' outfit from the Almay Rainforest Benefit gig. I'm going to a cocktail party tomorrow night and if I can find a pair of white lace leggings, I might give this look a go. Then again, I might just look like the Michelin Man...

Frolicking in the Sunshine

The sun has been shining in Glasgow all weekend. So, on our way out to Spinal Lou's birthday bash on Friday evening I decided to take a few outdoor outfit photos. However, this was a good as I could get before getting all embarrassed an uncomfortable. The streets around here are always quiet and there's not usually anyone hanging about. But, just as I was trying out a few poses, a lady with a fist full of letters approached the post box I was standing next to. Instead of going about her business, she stopped, stared and waited for me to say 'go ahead - post your mail!' Now I just felt awkward and decided to head to the bus stop instead...

To Cut A Long Story Short

At the beginning of this year my hairdresser decided to go travelling - the usual places, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia etc. Great.
"When will you be back??"
"Well, I've got enough saved to do me til mid-April, but hopefully I'll pick up some work and be able to stay longer"
"Eh?? Like 6 months??"
"Oh, at least. I'd like to make it 9 or so"
"What the hell am I supposed to do for 9 months??"

So, I decided, fuck it - I'll just grow it. I haven't grown my hair past my chin since I was about 21 and quite fancied the idea. I can keep my fringe in check as I always trim it myself anyway.
To cut a long story short, I couldn't put up with the 'not long enough to tie up, but too long to sit properly' length any longer.
At the beginning of this month my pal recommended a girl in the Gorbals (a pretty scary area of Glasgow). I was a bit dubious, but adored what she'd done with Christina's hair so... I booked myself in for last Thursday night.

After dodging the dog shit and stepping over a few junkies, I found the place.
"Hiya! Fancy a cup of tea? Just popping the kettle on."
"Erm, cheers, that would be nice"
"Let me take your jacket - ooh - that's gorgeous and I love your boots!"
"Thanks, I could say the same about yours - are they KG?"
"Yip! Picked them up in the sale"

After another 5 minutes or so of mutual 'I like your...', 'well, I like your ... more', Stacey set to work on my moptop.
I should mention that going to the hairdressers for me is like going to the dentist. I hate it. Hate the mundane chat. Hate people touching my hair. Hate the 'advice'. Generally find it a necessary evil and come home and attack the new style with my own scissors.

Not this time however. Got exactly what I was after. And to top it all off, once Stacey had finished cutting, out popped the 'goth dust' - ya dancer! I can't get enough of this stuff, OSiS 'Dust It'. Been using it for months and was pleased as punch that Stacey didn't even need to ask before she went about back-combing and 'dusting' til I looked like I'd been on the walzers with a can of Studio Line in a storm.
"That'll be £20, please"
20 quid?? Couldn't believe it. I usually pay between £45 and £65 for a cut n blow dry.
Whipped out my debit card, beaming about the excellent service and price!

DECLINED

Eh? I didn't get paid til the next day, but I'd checked only that morning and there was plenty of cash in my account. Maybe it was the machine. I apologised and popped round to the cash machine. Of course, it was 'out of order'. OK, no cash, no card and I'm stuck in the Gorbals...

Ah! Got new credit card in my bag. I can activate it using my iphone - bingo! Sat back down, looking rather sheepish by this point. Think my hair was even beginning to flop.

"The s-i-x-t-h d-e-c-e-m..." etc etc

Goddamn automated service.

"Sorry. Please repeat your date of birth"
"Sorry. Please repeat your date of birth"
"Sorry. Please repeat your date of birth"

Shit!! No worky. What the hell am I going to do now? Offer to give her my leather jacket she liked so much?? Not really an option. It was pissing it down outside and anyhow, my jacket cost way more than 20 quid!

"Will you take payment over the phone?"
"Erm...ok..."

"Hi honey. I need you to do me a favour. I'll explain when I get home. Have you got your bank card handy? Can you pay the hairdresser 20 quid, over the phone? Thanks."

Sorted. What a 'riddy'*!

Drop The Bomb

This summer is the summer of weddings. Got three in June alone. As I've already been there, done that, I'm utterly thrilled and excited about going to everyone else's! No stress for me, but all the fun - pretty perfect all round. BUT, what to wear?? Lou Lou's is sorted as I'm Maid of Honour (yay!) and below are the options for Number 1: Cousin's wedding in the Cotswolds - Art Deco theme.

This is my favourite, but I'm hesitating about the pale pink stretchy fabric around my middle and the possibility of unsightly under arm perspiration...

Option 2: the other way around. This is the safe option, but is it too much black for a summer wedding??

Option 3: I love these pretty sleeves and they'd probably be enough to disguise any 'sweaty betty' moments.

Option 4: I've always wanted a sailor dress - always! But is this verging on costume?
Pretty, pretty, pretty and pretty perfect with options 1-3.

Going Gaga

Went to see Lady Gaga in Glasgow last night. I'm not a huge fan of her music, but I adore her and her fashion sense. My favourite costume from last night was definitely the pyrotechnic bra and pants during Paparazzi. The huge animatronic/puppet angler fish also helped!

Lazy Lavender Lace

Look a bit 'lost in the headlights' in this one!

Went out last night for a delicious curry to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday. Nice quiet evening - dinner, couple of drinks and hone for midnight... No chance! Remeber crawling into bed around 4.30am this morning, room spinning etc. Got up to total carnage in the living room and this outfit in a heap on the floor. Suffered all day today, so this is a nice n easy lazy outfit post. Now where's my stodgy dinner?

There Is A First Time For Everything

So I finally got the bottle to take some outfit pics. Decided to use my new iphone, so excuse the crap quality - won't be using it again...
Went out last night for a fantastic Greek meal for a friend's birthday. After mountains of yummy goodness and litres of cheap wine, I'm feeling a little ropey today.

Silence and Noise black jumper // Topshop Love Heart tights // Brand New KG suede shoe-boots (reduced to £40 in the sale) // Vintage fake fur coat // Tarina Tarantino Barbie necklace // Betsey Johnson skull ring and snake bangle // Kenneth Jay Lane Bee ring
